BCS Work permit (individual and for companies)

The REVERA team is assisting businesses and foreign employees with employment matters in a Cypriot company, from collecting documents for obtaining "foreign company" status to resolving relocation issues for employees' families to Cyprus.

In order for foreign nationals to be employed by a Cypriot company, the following steps must be taken:

  1. The Cypriot company obtains foreign status.
  2. The Cypriot company employs staff from third countries under its foreign status.
Requirements and Conditions for Employees How can an employee enter Cyprus? Legalisation of Migration Status for Employees' Family Members
  • Minimum Salary Requirements: Over €2,500
  • Educational Qualifications: A higher education degree in a relevant field or at least 3 years of work experience in the corresponding profession.
  • Criminal Record: No criminal record in the country where the applicant will obtain the certificate of no criminal conviction.
  • Employment Duration: The employment of employees in the Cypriot company must be for a minimum of 2 years.

An employee can enter Cyprus based on the following:

  • Schengen visa
  • Cypriot national visa
  • Entry Permit

*The list of required documents will vary depending on the basis for the employee's entry into Cyprus.

Upon arrival in Cyprus, the employer must submit documents to the Migration Department (in practice, the documents are submitted by power of attorney, and the employee’s personal presence is not required).

Migration specialists will, on the day of submission:

  • Return the passport
  • Issue a receipt (“white paper”)
  • Issue the Alien Registration Certificate (“yellow paper”)

With the receipt, the applicant can enter and leave Cyprus until the plastic residence card (PRC) is issued.

The plastic residence card is prepared within 2 months after submitting the documents to the Migration Department.

When the employee receives a work visa in Cyprus, their spouse can apply for family reunification.

  • The spouse has the right to work in Cyprus, while children are entitled to receive education and healthcare in Cyprus.

Processing times: Documents for family members can only be submitted after 2-3 weeks from the submission of documents for the primary applicant (this is necessary for the migration authorities to update their system with the primary applicant’s data).
