Cyprus Extends Residence and Entry Deadlines for Non-EU Nationals Stranded Abroad
The Deputy Ministry of Migration and International Protection has announced temporary emergency measures allowing non-EU nationals who are currently outside Cyprus and unable to return due to regional air travel disruptions to maintain their immigration status.
The measures apply to individuals affected since 1 March 2026 and will remain in force until 30 April 2026.
Key Measures
- Valid residence permit holders: May re-enter Cyprus using their existing permit until 30 April 2026, provided their three-month absence began after 28 February 2026.
- Applicants for residence permit renewal: Individuals holding a receipt confirming submission of a renewal application may also enter Cyprus until 30 April 2026, provided the application remains pending or has been approved and the three-month absence began after 28 February 2026.
- Entry permit holders: Individuals with entry permits whose original latest entry date fell between 1 March and 31 March 2026 may enter Cyprus until 30 April 2026, regardless of the original deadline.
Temporary Force Majeure Measures
The Ministry confirmed that the measures are temporary and exceptional, introduced in response to travel disruptions beyond the control of affected individuals. Authorities will continue monitoring the situation and may extend the measures if necessary.
